Pinned topic Simple data access from .NET

‏2013-10-01T06:34:58Z |

Until now i am using oledb provider in my .NRET apps writing standard ado.net methods to access my DB2/400.

Is there any other way to simplify data access with .NET?

A simple ORM woudl be fine ut i cant find one that has provider for db2/400

There is only Webmatrix.Data namespace in .net which returns dynamic objects and the db api is really really simple.

What you guys are doing to access your DB from .net?

This still uses data readers, datatables and everything ado.net uses...

Finally i went with micro-ORM -> DAPPER which does everything i want in a simple way.

I would revert to using IBM.Data.iSeries provider if i needed more complex operations OR until MS Entiy Framework supports IBM DB2/400

    Thanks for the link.

The .NET provider included with DB2 Connect supports MS Entity Framework access to DB2 for i.  DB2 Connect is a chargeable product.
