Pinned topic Looking for bladecenter firmware

‏2013-09-26T16:45:46Z |

I am looking for firmware for blade servers in a bladecenter H 8852 chassis:

Chassis (Midplane):
FRU Number: 25R5780
Manufacture ID: IBM ( FOXC )
Machine Type/Model: 8852HC1
Machine Serial Number: KQKX120
HW Rev: 5
Manufacture Date: 2906
Part Number: 41Y4842
Manuf ID: 20301
Product ID: 82

The blades have this configuraton:

Blade 1:
FRU Number: 43W1110
Manufacture ID: IBM ( ASUS )
Machine Type/Model: 8853L6U
HW Rev: 5
Manufacture Date: 3806
Part Number: 43W1132
Manuf ID: 20301
Product ID: 13

Firmware:
BIOS: BCE115EUS
Released: 12/13/2006
Rev: 1.04
Diagnostics: BCYT15AUS
Released: 12/06/2006
Rev: 1.01
Blade sys. mgmt. proc.: BCBT28A
Rev:  4

There is one blade with a different config:

FRU Number: 41Y5293
Manufacture ID: IBM ( WIST )
Machine Type/Model: 8853AC1
HW Rev: 4
Manufacture Date: 3306
Part Number: 41Y5356
Manuf ID: 20301
Product ID: 13

When I look for firmware for these on IBM's site, it puts me on a page with the 8852 or 8853 and lists of the components.  I can't find 'blade server' in the list let alone part numbers and firmware releases.  I did find a page with "BIOS Flash Update v1.21 for DOS - IBM BladeCenter HS21 (Type 8853)" which kind of looked like what I was looking for except it says 'for DOS'.  All of the servers are linux, would I need to find this 'for linux' somewhere?  Where can you find on IBM's site firmware for specific part numbers?  Thanks for any help.

    http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/

Choose Bladecenter, then select the model and choose Linux as the OS.  It will show you every update for the blade there are.  For the chassis, you need to choose whether it's model type.  Not the midplane type.  Like the BC-S is 8886 or 7779.  Then choose operating system independent or Linux for linux specific fixes.

Thank you, I have been at this page before.  The thing is that 'blades' or 'servers' aren't listed anywhere in the categories and the firmware list - I don't see the model numbers of the blades/servers.  Maybe on these lists blades/servers are referred to by another name?

The 8853 is a HS21 right?  Select that from the main page and select operating system to ALL.  On the next page you will get every subcategory.  I am assuming by blade or servers you mean the BIOS or Chipset.  The fixes are listed by component type.  So "blade" isn't a component.  Select the component you need. For example, clicking on BIOS shows all the available BIOS updates and will show

        BIOS

The linux files are for Linux and the Windows files for windows environments. It's quite straightforward.

I don't think this is the right update file.  It tells you to run the command at the command line to flash.  What I am looking for is the firmware update that you select from the Bladecenter H Advanced Management Module.  Under Blade Tasks, you choose Firmware Update and  then browse for the file.  You do this for each blade server, one by one.  When I try to run the bios flash on an individual server it fails with a segmentation fault.  I think there is another type of firmware update?

What I am looking for is a firmware update that contains a file like "BCXXXXX.pkt".
