Pinned topic Rich Text Search

‏2013-06-13T16:10:18Z |

Hello,

I'm checking out the text search capabilities of DB2 and I'm really impressed about how nice it works to search in text and xml columns.

In the next step I installed the DB2 Accessories Suite and enabled the rich text support as described in the documentation (i.e. http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v10r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.db2.luw.admin.ts.doc%2Fdoc%2Ft0054804.html).

I saved some .pdf, .odt and .docx files into a blob column and created an ts-index on that column.

Unfortunately I'm getting very strange results when searching in that column. It actually seems as if only the filenames of the saved files get searched by the CONTAINS()-sql-command. When searching for words appearing inside of the documents, I'm not getting any results.

Does anyone already have some experience with rich text search in DB2 10.1? There can't be found any information except the official docs within the internet, what somehow astonishes me as I can't believe I'm the first person in the world trying this or having trouble with this.

Anyone out there how has some ideas on that topic?

Thanks in advance,

Benjamin

What was the command to create an index? Did you specify FORMAT INSO?

No, I did not specify as FORMAT INSO. I just looked this up and I'm gonna try it out soon.

      Thank you!!!

Thanks again, this was exactly the problem. Now all the documents get searched.
