‏2013-12-09T15:31:23Z |

Anyone tried installing DB2 Server on new Windows 2012 R2?

I have tried, getting the same error with 10.1 and 10.5 installers:

...

Action 15:49:22: iaValidateRspFileCA.
Action start 15:49:22: iaValidateRspFileCA.
Action ended 15:49:22: iaValidateRspFileCA. Return value 3.
Info 2896.Executing action iaValidateRspFileCA failed.
Action ended 15:49:22: InstallWelcome. Return value 3.
Action 15:49:22: SetupCompleteError.
....

I have received the same exact error. Do you have any updates?

From what I have heard, 2012 R2 is not yet supported.  This Software Product Compatibility Report does not show it...

I gave up and switched back to 2012 (without R2)

I know it is not officially supported, but still it is disappointing it can't be installed at all. 2012 R2 is here for some time already. In some perfect world IBM will fix their installer while new Windows/Linux/*nix is still in beta. I can remember there was some problems even with new AIXes in past.

Yes, we are looking to support Windows 2012 R2 later this year. Also Window 8.1- likely in Q3. But as always, plans can change.

"as always, plans can change"...let's just hope that means a change for the better.  Windows 8.1 / Server 2012 R2 came out *months* ago, and it's not exactly like they were surprise updates without a beta / developer preview.  We're really bumping into issues with the lack of Windows 8.1 clients.

I successfuly installed the db2 9.7 version( I need Task Center)  using response file installation on win2012r2 . Regular setup failed, don't know anymore if I had same errors as you had.

Your reply and comment were not deleted as you can see above. I deleted my reply as it was not appropriate for this forum, You reply is still there as you originally posted it. To add - I do not have the authority to delete here regardless unless it is my post.

OK, I see that now.  I was unfamiliar with the way this forum lays out its comments and it appeared to me that I could still see my comment because I was its author, but that an annotation below it showed that you had deleted it.  I now understand the "this reply was deleted" annotation referred to your reply, not mine.

Sorry for the confusion...and I'm still anxiously awaiting a DB2 client that supports Windows 8.1. :-)

New technote was released about similar case recently.
I hope this link hits your case and can be the workaround.

Bob Harbus....you responded to this thread last March that DB2 Connect would be compatible with Windows 2012R2 "later this year".   I just downloaded DB2 Connect v10.5 at fixpack 3 through Passport Advantage and we are still getting the following error in the installer...the same error reported in the 2Q14 posts:

    Action 10:49:03: ValidatePanelCA.
    Action start 10:49:03: ValidatePanelCA.
Action ended 10:49:03: ValidatePanelCA. Return value 3.
    Info 2896.Executing action ValidatePanelCA failed.
Action ended 10:49:03: InstallWelcome. Return value 3.
    Action 10:49:03: SetupCompleteError.
    Action start 10:49:03: SetupCompleteError.

Any idea when this might be fixed?

I think you might be better off opening a PMR for your problem.
