Pinned topic DB2 II4c vs Content Manager Client

‏2013-05-08T23:23:08Z | content manager

Hi, We have IBM Content Manager server for iSeries installed on AS400.

We are using DB2 II4c (Information Integretor for Connector) V8.4.3 on Windows front-end and write Java code to retrieve/import the file to IBM Content Manager server, it is working fine. The connection string is defined in frnolint.tbl file in folder C:\Program Files\IBM\db2cmv8\cmgmt.

Recently, we installed IBM Content Manager Client for Windows software and try to connect to Content manager server, but the connection configuration is totally different. During installation, it pops up to require Database alias, etc.

I looked up Content Manager Client Help document, and it does not have useful information.

Sample frnolint.tbl entry I used in Ii4c is

SERVER: APP REMOTE TCPIP
   HOSTNAME = BACKEND.ca.hsbc
   PORT = 31018
   SERVER_TYPE = FRNLS400

Can any body help?

    The Client for Windows uses the C++ APIs.  They use a connection interface that is different from the JDBC interface that is used with the Java API's. The connection information is different.

    Thanks a lot,  our back-end system is Visual Info.

    In Client for Windows v5.3, we can use network table. but in v8.4, where is the alternative?

    I looked at the C++ document, and that does not seem very helpful.
