Pinned topic Best Practices when performing data masking/redact policy

‏2013-08-22T08:53:50Z |

Hi All, I found out that IBM Guardium has a built-in Redaction (SCRUB) functions. I saw someone make this work in a demonstration using one of the following functions placed in the Data Pattern field of the rule:

SCRUB_SSN_ANSI , SCRUB_CC_SOLID_ANSI
SCRUB_SSN_UNICODE , SCRUB_CC_SOLID_UNICODE
SCRUB_CC_SPACES_ANSI , SCRUB_AMEX_SOLID_ANSI
SCRUB_CC_SPACES_UNICODE , SCRUB_AMEX_SOLID_UNICODE

Do these functions only work specifically on a certain pattern?

Also, is there way to make a masking work without using the above functions?

The usually process I do is create an 1) Access Rule (action: log full details) 2) Extrusion Rule (DB User: <user> Object: %drivers_license Action: redact) but this doesn't work. My system is Oracle 11g Database R2 running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
