Pinned topic what's the best way to replace the first 4 hard drives on DS3300

‏2013-04-16T23:36:32Z |

Hi Everyone,

We have a DS3300 with the following config.

500  500 500 500

1T    1T    1T   1T

1T    1T    1T   1T

500s are in a RAID 5 and 1Ts are in another.

We would like to replace those 500s with 1T and joing the 1T RAID 5. What's the best way to do this once I move all the data out of 500 RAID?

Regards,

Oliver

I understand this may be a stupid question. However, when I was setting up this SAN, it froze on me after I removed the first 4 disks. Can anyone shed some light on this?

If all of your data is moved off of your 500 drives, then you can delete the array altogether, put in the new drives and then use storage manager's "modify" tab and select "Add Free Capacity (Drives) to add them to your 1T array.
