Pinned topic x3650 M2 7949 - ASU tool Execution Disable bit [enable]

‏2013-09-12T14:14:49Z |
Hello,

We have two x3650 M2 machines running in an VMware 4.1 farm. I want to test-run a Windows 2012 machine on these hosts, but this is prevented by the NXbit setting. To run Windows 2012 you need to turn Execute Disable Bit to enabled. I can't find this option anywhere in the PhoenixBIOS. So I was wondering if you can set the NXBit to enabled by using the IBM ASU tool?

Or is there another way to enable the Execution Disable Bit on the x3650 M2 machines?

I would be very grateful if someone could give me a hint or solution, because this is driving me mad! ;)

Thanks in advance,

Ingmar

Never mind this thread. Just found out that Windows Server 2012 isn't supported on Vmware 4.1. And from what I read ESX5.1 allows for use of UEFI so I can easily set the XD bit there. For now I'll go test on HyperV. Case can be closed.
