Pinned topic Broadcom 10 Gigabit Ethernet Expansion Card (CFFh) "Hardware Revision: 0" with VMWare 5.x?

‏2013-09-17T20:46:30Z |

I have a customer running BladeCenter H with HS23s and some HS22s, they are getting ready to upgrade their network to 10GbE with VMWare 5.x environment they want to make sure their systems will be able to make the transition with no major issues.

Several of their Nic cards, specifically the Broadcom 4-Port 10 Gb Ethernet Expansion Card (CFFh) have a "rev0" when they go into to look at them.  Most cards will say rev1, rev2, etc.  Chuck Webb and I have been unable to find anything on rev0.  Do any of you know anything about these cards saying "rev0", or who may be the right person to talk to at the brand to make sure these are still supported by IBM?  The FRU # for these cards is 46m6165.  I can look up and find that part number but nothing on rev0.  Any help would be appreciated.

Here is what the customer sent when I asked him to send us where he is seeing "rev0"

"Here you see a Broadcom NIC indicating hardware rev 2, which we have
determined is acceptable for moving ahead with our upgrades:

And here is an example of a NIC indicating hardware rev 0:
