Pinned topic Difference between backupProfile and just copy it

‏2013-04-26T09:39:29Z |

Hello! I'm a newbie to WAS and I have a little question.

There is the command manageprofiles.sh -backupProfile or -backupConfig. Why can't someone just copy the profile and zip it manually? What's the difference between these two actions?

For those who interested in this question too there is the answer. BackupProfile stores metadata when manually copying doesn't.

Backupconfig only do the backup of the configuration and not of the binaries of the product and is the "official" way to backup the configuration.

If you do a copy of the directory of course you have a copy of the configuration but also of the binaries so the size of the backup is bigger.

If you need a roadmap or any procedure to restore or clone or what everything you can use the backupconfig and not doing a copy of WAS_HOME.

The description of backupConfig in the below URL would be of use in getting a clear picture of the same.

    Hope it helps!!
