Pinned topic DB2 Install fails

‏2013-10-28T15:23:19Z |

Hi Forum,

I am trying to install DB2 Express C on a 64-bit Linux system and get the error:-

ERROR: An error occurred during the execution of the command

"/opt/ibm/db2/V10.5_01/instance/dascrt  -u dasusr8 -d". The DB2 Administration

Server may not function properly. The return value is "1".

Please see attached setup log for details.

Regards,

Michael.

    Hi Kiran,

Thanks for your advice. I followed your instructions and the install was successfull.

However when I try to run either the Command Line Processor (db2 command) or the Control Centre (db2cc) I get 'command not found'.

    [dasusr8@curassow4 ~]$ db2
    -bash: db2: command not found
    [dasusr8@curassow4 ~]$ which db2
    /usr/bin/which: no db2 in (/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/home/dasusr8/bin)
    [dasusr8@curassow4 ~]$ db2cc
    -bash: db2cc: command not found
    [dasusr8@curassow4 ~]$ which db2cc
    /usr/bin/which: no db2cc in (/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/home/dasusr8/bin)
    [dasusr8@curassow4 ~]$

    Regards,

    Michael.

    Hi Michael,

DB2 Control Centre (db2cc) is deprecated from version v10.1 onwards so no more Control Centre.  If you want to use GUI for connecting to the Database, you can install the DB2 Data Studio.

DB2 CLI is not working because you are using Das user.  You have to login through instance user(db2inst7).  If you want to access CLI through DAS user then you can set the Profile with DB2Profile lines.

    Best Regards,

    Kiran.M.K.

    Hi Kiran,

The CLI works when I log in as the instance owner now thanks.

However trying to download the Data Studio is proving impossible.

I go to the download page and get redirected to the Registration page, fill in all the required details and round and round we go from one page back to the other.

    See attachment.

    Hi Kiran,

I have downloaded the Data Studio software ( IBMIM_linux.zip) and unzipped it in the /root directory

The instructions to install say :-

The zip file unpacks to provide a disk1 directory; within it is the shell script mentioned: installerImage_linux.bin.

However I do not see a /disk1 directory created and running find for the script does not find it.

    Regards,

    Michael.

You can use DB2 Data Studio in GUI Client mode or GUI  URL based as well.

If you want to use GUI Client tool. Login with X-window in linux and then Browse through applications and then Data Studio Client.

Connect to your remote or local DB by registering Instance and DB.

    Best Regards,

    Kiran.M.K.
