Pinned topic Universal Test Client with WAS for Developer on Eclipse

‏2013-10-14T02:17:57Z |

Is it possible to use the Universal Test Client ( UTC ) when using WAS for Developer version with Eclipse?

I have Eclipse Juno with WAS for Developers 8.5.5 installed and I can use that as a server, but I don't get the Check-box to enable the test client on the Server Overview Tab.

Thank you

    Hi,

Sorry, the UTC is only available in products like Rational Application Developer and Rational Software Architect.

I would be interested to know how you were using it and what WebSphere version(s) you use, so please feel free to respond here with more information or open up a request for enhancement for the developer tools.

    Thanks, Tim

I have been using using it for WAS 8.5 and WAS 7 sometimes.

In both versions, I have mostly used it for Sending messages to MQ and sometimes have used the JNDI Explorer

When using it for Sending messages to MQ, saves me having to write code to put messages in the Queue so that I can test my MDBs.

Some of my colleagues have used the JPA Explorer

Please let me know, if you need more details.

    Thanks.

    Hi adbdkb,

Thanks for your post I am using WAS 8.5 trial version and wanted to test JMS functionality. But I am unable to find any option for Universal Test Client. Also the programs that I am getting on Internet are not getting executed due to difference in JDKs and JRES of IBM and one that comes OOTB.

I will appreciate your help on this front.

    Thanks in anticipation

Are you using RAD or Eclipse?

The option is not available in Eclipse and that is what this post is about.
