Pinned topic Can you create a virtual table of distinct values?

‏2013-04-30T22:30:51Z |

I have a table with millions of records, but I only want to run my rule against the distinct values of one column.  Is there a way to create a virtual table that only shows the distinct values of one column?

Similar to this query:

select distinct(colA) from tableA

What you have control over with a Virtual Table is the column selection and the Where clause.  There is not an ability currently to specify a distinct option or other function to the column value selected/returned.

What you can do in the IA 9.1 release is to create a rule to filter a dataset and save the results to a named output table.  That named output table can then be used in evaluations by subsequent rules.  Since the rules support writing distinct values as output columns you could achieve your results in that manner.
