Pinned topic Clearcase release area v8 multisite

‏2013-04-30T08:50:52Z |

Hi All

I am trying to create a clearcase release area for Clearcase version 8, on the IBM site there are examples on how to go through this on Clearcase version 7, but doesnt mention on how to do this on 8. Do l still need to do this via the Wizard?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

No, v8 is using standard IBM Installation Manager to install CC. You can use Package Utility to create a repository.

Thanks Jirong, does this machine i have to update each clearcase workstation manually with the correct repository name?

Not sure on how to go about this.

      Thanks

      Khalid.

ClearCase 8 doesn't use release areas anymore. The area that you install from is called a repository. You would add new repositories to Install Manger that then point to the ClearCase version that you want to install along with other repositories for any patches that you want installed at the same time.

Each client needs to know the location of the the repository which is stored centrally just like a release area, but you can use a silent response file to tell Install Manger on each client to go to the correct location to install. Then client installs only have to run a 1 line command to install CC. Response files can either be recorded through IM or there are sample ones that are attached to a technote.

The only difficultly in going from 7.0 to 8.0 is that 7.0 must be uninstalled completely as it uses the old installer technology.
