Pinned topic Secure delete data on old servers

‏2014-02-05T15:02:27Z |

We are in the process of replacing several old servers (x226, x335, x336, x346, etc).  Is there a utility available that will allow us to securely erase all the data on the drives.  We're hoping to sell the servers whole or in parts, and need to ensure our data is completely wiped.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.

    Hi,

You can use the scrub3.exe program found in the ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit to wipe the disks and any controller configuration.

See the "Toolkit 1.3.07 User Guide", specifically "Chapter 7. Performing secure data disposal". Some customization may be required. Follow the steps and create a bootable ISO with the desired configuration for scrub3, then boot the server to it and follow the prompts to start the disposal scenario.

This version should support the servers you mentioned. Other versions of the toolkit can be found here.

    Hope this helps.

Have not tried it yet, I will next week.  But after a quick glance, this seems to be exactly what I was looking for.  Thank you!
