I've been trying to install IDDE into my Eclipse environment and get the following:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software currently installed: IBM Monitoring and Diagnostic Tools for Java - Interactive Diagnostic Data Explorer [Tech Preview] 1.0.0.201209281802 (com.ibm.java.diagnostics.idde.feature.feature.group 1.0.0.201209281802)
Missing requirement: Basic DTFJ Extensions 0.8.0.201209281530 (com.ibm.dtfj.tools.jdmpview.extensions 0.8.0.201209281530) requires 'bundle com.ibm.dtfj.java.ext1 1.0.0' but it could not be found
    Cannot satisfy dependency:
From: IBM Monitoring and Diagnostic Tools for Java - Interactive Diagnostic Data Explorer [Tech Preview] 1.0.0.201209281802 (com.ibm.java.diagnostics.idde.feature.feature.group 1.0.0.201209281802)
    To: com.ibm.dtfj.tools.jdmpview.extensions [0.8.0.201209281530]

I can't figure out where I need to go to get the "Basic DTFJ Extensions".  I've got the Diagnostic Framework for Java 1.10 installed.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, thanks for highlighting your problem downloading IDDE into your eclipse environment. I've also tried and I am getting the same error message so I just wanted to let you know that I'm looking into this further and will post back to this thread when I have some more information to share.

Thanks.  I'm looking forward trying out this new tool.  I have a standalone dump that had a problem with a 64bit java environment.  So far, all the tools I've tried to use do not seem to be able to find the JRE in the asid.  I'm hoping this one will work better with the 64bit jvm.

Hi, I think there is an issue with the update site which I will need to resolve with ISA. However I have managed to install the plugins manually and get IDDE working.

I downloaded the following jars from http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/isa/isa410/production/plugins

          17,703 com.ibm.dtfj.api_1.10.0.201211221128.jar
          13,231,841 com.ibm.dtfj.j9_1.10.0.201211221128.jar
          27,800 com.ibm.dtfj.java.ext1_1.0.0.201209281530.jar
          713,816 com.ibm.dtfj.sov_1.10.0.201211221128.jar
          61,005 com.ibm.dtfj.tools.jdmpview.extensions_0.8.0.201209281530.jar
          183,765 com.ibm.dtfj.view_4.26.50.201209281530.jar
          285,005 com.ibm.java.diagnostics.idde.doc_1.0.0.201209281802.jar
          593,079 com.ibm.java.diagnostics.idde_1.0.0.201209281802.jar

          then these from http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/isa/isa410/production/features

          403,144 com.ibm.dtfj.feature_1.10.0.201211221128.jar
          424,149 com.ibm.java.diagnostics.idde.feature_1.0.0.201209281802.jar

The final step was then to unzip these in the Eclipse plugins and features directories respectively (they do need to be unzipped rather than just putting the jar in the directory). I could then open the IDDE perspective and a quick try of the commands seemed to indicate that all was working, however I haven't done any extensive testing at this point. Obviously I'll be looking to get the update site back up and running as soon as possible.

          Hope this helps.

Much closer, but I'm still having a problem with the java ext1 jar.

When I start the workbench, I get the following popup:

Unable to locate the dtfjext1.jar on the classpath.  Some commands may now be missing or disabled.

If I start it with eclipsec.exe, I see the following:

FYI,  the path to the jar looks like this:

              "C:\eclipse-idde\plugins\com.ibm.dtfj.java.ext1_1.0.0.201209281530\lib\dtfjext1.jar"

From the IDDE !help output :

    "info mod                                       outputs module information"

It would be good if this line was clearer. It would help if it used the standard terms "shared libraries" or "DLLs". The word "module" is confusing because it can mean so many different things. The help text could be something like:

"lists the loaded DLLs (shared libraries), with their memory locations"

Hi Will, thanks for the feedback. I'll add your suggestion to the requirements backlog.
