Pinned topic SYS_SUMM PhysCPU's exceeding #CPU's in managed system

‏2014-06-02T10:15:43Z |

Hi,

I have a script running that parses nmon files to calculate average and peak CPU usage over the passed month. This month I found an lpar with a peak CPU usage of 28.041. Strange, because it is an uncapped lpar with only 4 virtual CPU's. Moreover, the managed system has only 16 CPU's installed. I checked with nmon analyzer and found the same value for SYS_SUMM/PhysicalCPU for that lpar.

For my calculation I use the first figure (3rd field) of each line starting with LPAR,Txxxx from the recorded nmon files. Am I using the wrong value or is nmon recording something funny here?

See nmon file attached. (value in LPAR,T0061)

Thanks

Herman
