Enhancements to z/TPFDF cache and encryption support improve the maintainability for the cache and encryption control settings and provide stronger database security.
APAR PI44953 provided z/TPFDF cache support, and APAR PI56472 provided z/TPFDF encryption support. With these APARs, you can use the ZUDFM CACHE and ZUDFM ENCRYPT commands to manage cache and encryption settings for your z/TPFDF files. The cache and encryption settings for z/TPFDF files are saved in the z/TPFDF format-2 global record (IDFCNTRL). However, no mechanism exists to clean up any entries in the format-2 global record that are no longer needed.
With APAR PI85156, you can use the REMOVE parameter on the ZUDFM CACHE or ZUDFM ENCRYPT command to delete entries from the z/TPFDF control format-2 global record for files that no longer use z/TPFDF cache support or z/TPFDF encryption support.
Furthermore, encryption processing is enhanced with APAR PI85156 to provide stronger data verification for databases that use message digests.
