Additional z/TPFDF CRUISE user exits (APAR PH04143)

z/TPFDF APAR PH04143 provides three additional user exits for the capture/restore utility, information and statistics environment (CRUISE).

Two utility user exits are provided to intercept CRUISE before chain chase processing begins for the first top-level file ID, and after chain chase processing is completed for the last top-level file ID. With these user exits, for example, you can manage heap storage that is available to other user exit calls while CRUISE is running. The two user exits are called automatically for each CRUISE run.

In addition, a user exit is provided for CRUISE to perform alternate finds during chain chase. With this user exit, you can access user-created copies of z/TPFDF records by using an alternate find method. For example, you can selectively restore a single database from a backup image to production DASD when database corruption occurs. You can use the ALTFIND parameter on the ZFCRU SETUP command to enable the CRUISE alternate find during chain chasing user exit.
