If you are developing mobile applications, you have certainly noticed that mobile applications are somehow different from other type of applications, they generate more passion. At the end of the day, if you build a customer facing application, it may become the first entry point to the services of your company so no doubt why many people are involved.
That's one of the reason why development teams need to regularly provide versions of the application to a large extended team within the enterprise that is composed of testers, user interface designers, various stakeholders of the application.
Sharing mobile applications and managing versions is rapidly a pain and this is where Worklight Application Center can help.
Application Center acts as a repository of mobile applications where the development team can upload apps for iOS or Android through a Web interface. This is similar to a public application store such as Apple AppStore or Google Play but limited to the context of the development life cycle.
The Application Center console
This mobile client application
lets you manage the applications on your device. From this mobile, you can browse the catalog, learn about the new versions that are available and also
provide feedback to the development team about the applications that are
being developed. Rapidly this tool becomes a "must-have" to
streamline the distribution of your mobile applications. To simplify even more this, you can directly upload your mobile application from within Worklight studio or as part of your build process through a command line tool.
So how to find this tool ? Do not look for the application center in the Worklight developer
edition. You need to use one of the Worklight Server edition to be able to
take advantage of the Application Center. As you install one of the Worklight Server edition, the Application Center will be installed ready to run within a WebSphere 8.5 liberty server.
