One of the new features I worked on in IBM Lotus Web Content Management version 7 is Favourite Items and Locations. In previous versions, it was difficult to find items that were relevant to you personally. Sure, you could use the My Items views from the browser, but this only gave you items that you owned or authored.
In version 7, we’ve introduced a new way for you to store and access the items that are relevant to you with Favourite Items. Making any item a favourite is as simple as clicking the heart icon that appears next to the item name.
Once an item is made a favourite, the heart icon will show in a darker yellow colour. Now that you have selected a category as a favourite, you will see this item in different contexts such as selection dialogs, and the favourite items view. For example, if I wanted to select a category to use as the basis of a menu, I can now access my favourite categories from the Favourites section of the dialog’s Views menu.
Items are not the only thing that can be made a favourite. You can now save specific views as favourite locations. Marking a view as a favourite is exactly the same as with items, and can be done by clicking the heart icon next to the view name.
When you make a view favourite, you’re saving the type of view you are on, as well as any filters you have applied to that view. This means you can go back to any view with all your filters applied automatically by launching the favourite locations list from the views menu and selecting your favourite location.
