Praveen Rao, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri-Kansas City explains how his organization was one of the first to pilot the IBM Academic Skills Cloud.
He currently teaches a class on operating systems and uses the SmartCloud to demonstrate how to develop a distributed file system using the SUSE Linux images. In another class on semi-structured data management, students access the Apache systems in the cloud and use the IBM Informix tooling.
Praveen also exposes his students to concepts around developing software in the cloud - an area which has been increasingly in-demand over the last few years.
