Ayse Bener from Ryerson University, Canada, an expert in handling big data and data analytics, explains that the field is not all about number-crunching. She works across healthcare, banking and software development and each of these industries, the data is domain-specific and so it is as important to understand the industry as it is to know the methods of data handling.
Therefore, she is developing a professional Masters Program in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence spanning the departments of computer science, engineering and business to bridge the skills gap that currently exists in Canada.
