Where In The World Is Tiger?

Tiger's out for the rest of the 2008 golf season.
So says his Website.
Man, talk about highs and lows of golf all in a single week.
I can almost hear the chatter of PGA tour players across the country now.
It's like the 2008 season, in an instant, took on a completely different dynamic.
The New York Times is reporting he is doing so to repair a torn ligament in his left knee, and also to attend to the stress fractures he suffered while preparing to return to the Tour in time for this past week's U.S. Open.
While I'm glad he's listening to his doctors -- I winced every time he winced during the nail-biter this past weekend -- contemplating a season without Tiger is kind of like contemplating basketball without Michael Jordan in the early 90s, tennis without Roger Federer more recently.
As a reminder, it's June, and though Tiger had only played seven times this year, he'd won five of those tournaments. Now, he'll not only miss the other tournaments he was scheduled to play, but the British Open, the PGA, and the Ryder Cup come September.
I wish him well in his ensuing surgery and post-operative recovery.
But I fear the rest of this season without Tiger that it will be the game of golf that may need the longest recovery.
