I don't know what they did to deserve the wait, but the Canadians are finally going to be able to get legit iPhones, so says 9 to 5 Mac Apple Intelligence.
Apple will allegedly introduce the iPhone through Rogers Telecom, news that Rogers confirmed this AM.
As 9 to 5 cites, Rogers is the only telco there with a GSM/EDGE network infrastructure, which is currently required to support the iPhone.
We'll see how long that lasts. Meanwhile, I can't wait for the first RIM (Canada-based maker of the Blackberry) v. iPhone billboards to go up on Younge Street in downtown Toronto.
A little competition is good for everybody. Despite my relatively newfound Apple fanboy-dom, I still carry a Blackberry Pearl as my primary Beam me up Scotty device.
It's how I keep track of the Big Blue mother ship, how I track PGA scores while I'm on the golf course, how I figure out which conference call-in number I'm calling into next...you know the drill.
But it's got one weak spot...actually, it's a large weak spot...and that's the Web browser. Blackberries...or at least the Pearl...just aren't worth much when it comes to Web browsing.
So, let the Blackberry and iPhone browser wars up in the Great White North commence!
