What do Bubbles, Psycho, Dilbert and Runnable have to do with "technical"? They are used to describe and inform ..and let's face it....entertain....which is the best way to learn.
Check out e-mail is soooooooo last week: to learn about Bubbles and Psycho ...and the benefits of Lotus Connections 2.5..... ( no fears...for those of us on My developerWorks as the team continues to enhance and upgrade we should see Lotus Connections 2.5 features arriving for us to use ....YIPPEEE - is that another technical workd?)
and what about Dilbert? Always a good way to make a point, check out Anticipating Problems
and then there is runnable.....I just like the word....say it a few times and you'll see why...runnable runnable runnable... ..now wasn't that fun? On the serious note: ever taken a java core on a Java 5 SDK and wondered why threads that should be marked as Runnable are showing up as Condition Wait? If so...check out this solution.

Does age matter? Interesting question. I always wonder how who takes these surveys and who doesn't. Is it really about age or design? Many of these decisions about design are based on personal experience and knowledge, but system design and architecture tools often play a bigger role in this process.
If we use the right tools, for software design does that make a difference? So many tools, and so little time! I found this article on developerworks article about various tools and the underlying concepts behind them. It compares popular software tools for an IT architect, including the IBM® Rational® suite of products, which provides a complete set of tools to get the job done in the most efficient way.
All across IT we use TMAs.....see I just did it. Sometimes they make us laugh and sometimes they make us scratch our heads. Have you tried writing or speaking without using a TLA (two or three letter acronym) or a FLA (four or fix letter acronym)? Perhaps we are conserving our breaths or the letters we type (could that be a way to lower our carbon footprint?)
Pronuciation is also a challenge. Is it S-O-A or sooooooooooah? Is it W-A-S or was or waaaas? Is it C-I-C-S or kicks? Is it R-A-D or rad? If it is rad is that short for radical which also could be the slang for cool, hip, trendy? So is RAD rad? Are there any BAD products? or OLD ones?
And so many acronyms mean more than one thing. I am not a fan of IM ...well when used to mean Instant Messaging yes...but not for Information Management. A few letters make all the difference in clarity.
Then there is Business Optimization (BO). When used in a sentence " I am currently working on the BO project which will enhance productivity ...." or "due to BO we've improved..." some acronyms just make you scratch your head and laugh at the same time...
Anyone care to share their favorites?

Testing: smells (oooohhhh what is that ?) cars (what happens if...), recipes (what about adding...), furniture (let me see what happens if I scratch it), authority (you want me to do what), meetings (what is the value, what is the agenda, why am I needed), machinery (wonder what that button does..) and new code/applications ...ala My developerWorks and downloads available at developerWorks.. let me make the software cry)
Tom's blog says it all ...in fact it is almost an ad for Lotus software. where all the social software is used to solve a business problem.....in fact...some of the problems I was finding ....can't help it...I like to break things....
It all started when I was a child and continues to this day. I like to challenge the status quo, ask questions and find holes....all in the hopes of making the world a better place - dare I say
Smarter? (couldn't help myself)
Not that there is anything wrong with those that like to build ....I just like to test, challenge, takes things apart, see how things work, and dare I say ..destroy.

Blogs are about being authentic and for me to be authentic I have to have fun. I was inspired to begin this blog after reading about the Chief Happiness Officer (CHO) - happiness at work is the most important factor that contributes to good careers, happy lives and business success. My intention is to blog about the fun, the absurd, the thrills, the chills and the adventures of my developerWorks experience and about what I find on My developerWorks.. Stay tuned as during this adventure I hope to find the things that can make us laugh, challenge our thoughts, vent , ask questions and listen, listen, listen. Oh....and make a few confessions along the way too.
