TIP #1 for creating HSLT VIrtual Images
When creating a Virtual Image for SCP I have found that, in addition to the standard Image creation steps, installing vnc-server (as below) will give users access to the Gnome UI directly after the VM is provisioned.
Please note that this is for demonstration purposes only as the configured VNC solution isn't encrypted - you may need to tunnel it over ssh for a more secure solution.
As root: # yum install vnc-server -y
As non-root user ("scp" in my image): # vncpasswd
# vi /etc/sysconfig/vncservers
( add the following to the file - change "scp" to the non-root user of choice )
VNCSERVERARGS="-geometry 800x600 -nolisten tcp"
# chkconfig vncserver on
# /etc/init.d/vncserver start
