Since then, it's been busy in the world of DevOps. Granted, we had a solution prior to that acquisition, with the ability of modeling deployments using the IBM Rational Software Architect Extension for Deployment Planning, the IBM Rational Automation Framework, Build Forge, and the integrations with the Tivoli products. However, with the acquisition of UrbanCode, IBM made this whole process even simpler as the UrbanCode tools allows for easy visual set up, automation, management, and reporting of the deployment environment - there's even existing integration with the IBM Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management tools.
At innovate, last month, I got the chance to see those tools in action and to meet some of the UrbanCode people - and it's a great team.
If you have any interest in DevOps, I would recommend you go have a look. And if you are a communications service provider, with its typical complex parallel deployment needs to various types of system, the management tools could make your life easier!
I can't tell what the future holds for this technology, but I look forward to discuss some of the complex systems requirements, such as those from CSPs, with the UrbanCode team!
