IBM Systems Workload Estimator
The IBM Systems Workload Estimator is a web-based sizing tool for IBM Power Systems™, System i®, System p®, System x®, IBM Flex Systems™, and IBM PureFlex™Systems. You can use this tool to size a new system, to size an upgrade to an existing system, or to size a consolidation of several systems.
The Workload Estimator allows measurement input to best reflect your current workload and provides a variety of built-in workloads to reflect your emerging application requirements. Virtualization can be used to yield a more robust solution. The Workload Estimator will provide current and growth recommendations for processor, memory, and disk that satisfy the overall client performance requirements. Help information and tutorials are also available for your use.
IBM Systems Energy Estimator
The IBM Systems Energy Estimator is a web-based tool for estimating power requirements for IBM Power Systems. You can use this tool to estimate typical power requirements (watts) for a specific system configuration under normal operating conditions. The Energy Estimator can be run in stand-alone mode and is also integrated with the IBM Systems Workload Estimator. The Energy Estimator will be regularly updated to support new hardware and software functions. Help information and tutorials are also available for your use.
The estimated power requirement is described as "typical" and does not necessarily represent the worst-case power condition that can be measured at 100 percent processor utilization or under abnormal operating conditions such as excessive inlet temperature or hardware failure. The estimated power requirement supports default settings for IBM EnergyScale technology for all models. Additional estimation support is provided for Static Power Saver Mode on certain POWER7 models. Power saver modes can be modified on IBM Power Systems using IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager.
