The FLRT team continues to make improvements!
While development is progressing nicely for the next FLRT release, the FLRT content team has been enhancing the "FLRT resources" and other helpful content for our clients.
New help for scripting
With the advent of multiple LPAR support and the ability to save an inventory file to upload back to FLRT, we wanted to improve the scripting capability for those who want to automate FLRT reporting. The help has been updated to include two new sample scripts, one that includes code to gather inventory for multiple LPARs and one that also uses a saved inventory file to generate a FLRT report.
The scripting documentation and commands apply to the AIX operating system only. In addition, the two scripts provided are samples. That is, you can use them as a starting point, but may need to revise them to work with your environment.
Mapping VIOS to AIX NIM master
FLRT now has a table that maps a PowerVM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) level to the minimum level of AIX required for the NIM Master. The table includes all minimum AIX 6.1 levels required for the specified VIOS level and will soon include the minimum AIX 7.1 levels required if your NIM master is AIX 7.1.
In case you missed it, you might also want to check out the updated FLRT survey. We're always looking for suggestions to improve FLRT!
