Finding what came in your System x and BladeCenter product on the new Support site?

Need to see what type of disk controller, or network adapter shipped with your box so you can find updates for them. Perhaps you want to know how many or what type of processors or hard drives it shipped with.
The Systems support site has two ways to find what was put into your System x and BladeCenter machine when it was manufactured. This information is useful when looking for drivers and firmware, as well as other uses, such as looking for upgrades, service parts etc.
This is first and the quickest way to see this information. Enter your system machine type and model number into the Product lookup box. The support site then will display your product and beneath it you will see the product description displayed as in the example below.
As you can see the description shows the various major components and includes type and quantity of them where applicable. This feature is only available for System x, and BladeCenter products.
If your system has the following model number on the label AC1, AC3, HC1, MC1; you need to to use the Warranty lookup method. This is because these are custom build systems; many differently configured boxes share these model types.
The second method to see what was in your box at manufacture. Click the Warranty lookup link under Tools and Resources. Enter your machine type and serial number into fields and click Submit. The tool will show you the current status of your warranty, and it will list what was in the box. The Product description feature offers the data in a consolidated manner where the Warranty lookup provides a table format and common items are not consolidate. The advantage of this method is you can see the service part numbers for your products.
