Entitlement changes in Fix Central

You have probably noticed changes in the last few months on Fix Central. Pop up notices, sign-in requirement, e-mail verification, and accepting Terms and Conditions.
I'm here to talk to you about entitlement changes and what to do if you encounter errors in your quest to download an update.
First of all, not all IBM products are currently 'hard' entitled, meaning you MUST pass entitlement before you are allowed to download the update. Some products are in 'soft' entitlement. This goes through the verification process, but still allows you to download the update even if you do not pass the entitlement check. If you see a soft entitlement error, I want to encourage you to follow the process outlined below to either register or open a PMR with the entitlement team before the product goes to hard entitlement and you will no longer be able to get the update.
I'm going to use AIX 7.1 as an example.
Verify your download options before selecting Continue – I'm going to select 'bulk FTP'
Select Continue and then Continue again when you get back to the selection page. If you have not logged in with your IBM Web ID, you will be asked to do this now.
And, if this is the first time you've used your IBM Web ID, you will be asked to verify your email address
Be sure and verify the email address is the one you want to use. If it's not, go to the 'IBM Profile' link listed to change it.
You'll receive an email similar to the one below with a registration code.
Once you've gone through the email verification process, you won't have to do that again for six months.
Your fix order processing will continue...Please wait....if you take too long to go through the process, like I did when I was creating this blog,
your session may become invalid and you will have to start from the beginning.
Not to worry, look in the right hand navigation on the main Fix Central screen under 'My product history' and select the same product.
After the order processing has taken place, you'll receive one of two answers, you will either succeed with the download and be presented with
your download information or you will receive the error 'Some selected fixes encountered errors for this order.'
This blog is intended to encourage you to select 'Request help'. If the product is still in 'soft' entitlement mode, you could select 'Continue to download' and get the service pack you selected. But, if you select 'Request help' and follow one of the help methods, you will also be given the option to get the service pack.
For software entitlement issues, you will see this screen
The 'Register for support and fixes' option on the left hand side allows you to enter your IBM Customer Number (ICN) to associate your IBM Web ID with that ICN. In some cases, the approval will be automatic if the ICN is set up for automatic email domain approval. In some cases, the approval will go to your Site Technical Contact for that ICN for approval.
If you feel like you should already be registered for the appropriate ICN, then choose to open a PMR with the entitlement team. You don't even have to go into SR to do this, it's all there ready for you. The data for your order has already been filled in and when you hit the 'Submit' button, you will receive the PMR number and a link to view the status.
And, notice that you now have the 'Continue to download' button so you can continue to your download.
Then you'll probably see a 'Terms and conditions' pop-up
And then you will get your order information
