New FLRT Feature – Version Timeline

The IBM Fix Level Recommendation Tool (FLRT) has added a new feature, Version Timeline, which shows Power Systems administrators more information about the levels associated to their system and provides a quick visual representation of their path to the recommended level. FLRT provides Power Systems administrators information about the recommended levels for their systems. While FLRT has always provided information about the current recommended levels, we are often asked to show how far a system is behind the current recommended level. The Version Timeline feature will allow administrators to easily visualize this information.
Using the Version Timeline feature
The Version Timeline feature in FLRT is currently available only for Power Systems reports in the web interface. To use this feature:
The version timeline will appear. Each bar in the Version Timeline indicates a specific version, when it was released and when it currently is scheduled for End of Service Pack Support, if available. If the End of Service Pack support date is not available, a default date of two years after the release date is used in the graph. You can visually see the number of releases between the current version you are on and the recommended level.

In this example, you can visually see the current level selected and when it is planned to be out of service pack support. You can also see the number of releases between the selected level and the recommended level.
For the AIX example, you can again see the horizontal separation, but that is now applied at the technology level. Additionally, you can see both the recommended update and the recommended upgrade level. The AIX example provides a clearer indication of End of Service Pack support dates. Remember when a service pack end of support date is reached, all fix packs within that service pack have the same end of service pack support date regardless of when they were released.
