Connect to z/OS from Open Systems and Manage HyperSwap
With Tivoli Storage Productivity Center v5.2 for Replication, it is now possible to mange z/OS HyperSwap from an Open System. To address system outages IBM developed the HyperSwap® Technology which can mask storage subsystem failures with an Extended Long Busy to the application I/O followed by a redirection of that I/O to a recovered Metro Mirror Secondary device. With Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication V5.2 you can now connect to a z/OS host system from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication that is running on Windows, Linux, or AIX to fully manage HyperSwap sessions that are running on a z/OS system.
In addition, this feature enables a single instance of Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication to manage multiple HyperSwap instances that are running in different z/OS systems and sysplexes.
The following figure shows you how to manage z/OS HyperSwap function from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center on an Open System.
