The IBM TS4500 tape library is a next-generation storage solution designed to help midsized and large enterprises respond to storage challenges. I will be publishing the Redbooks Publication IBM TS4500 R2 Tape Library Guide soon.
Did you know:
The TS4500 R2 can be configured with one base frame and up to 17 expansion frames with a maximum of 7 DX5 frames. The library can grow from both the right and the left side of the first L frame since models can be placed in any active position. A fully configured TS4500 with 3592 advanced cartridges can store up to 175.5 PB per library (526.5 PB with 3:1 compression) and the LTO Ultrium 7 cartridges can store up to 139 PB per library (up to 347.5 PB with 2.5:1 compression)*.
Here is the fully configured TS4500 R2 used during our writing of the Redbooks publication.
The TS4500 highlights:
Refer to the IBM TS4500 tape library overview for additional details.
*Capacity depends on drives installed, number and type of cartridges used, and compression ratio achieved. Listed capacity is physical. Usable capacity may be less.
