The draft has been out for quite some time. Typically the draft has been technically reviewed prior to publishing and then it is off the the final edit process. For this release of the book chapter 10 Performance and Monitoring has additional improvements that were not included in the published drafts. Time to take a look: IBM TS7700 Virtualization Engine with R3.2, SG24-8122. With R3.2 there are more possibilities for configurations with the addition of the TS7720 Tape Attach (TS7720T).
A TS7700 is configured in one of three ways: as a TS7720, as a TS7720 tape attach, or as a TS7740:
- The TS7720 stores all data in disk cache and does not attach to a physical library.
- The TS7720 tape attach takes the TS7720 configuration and adds a Tape Attach feature, which the TS7740 uses to attach to the physical library.
- The TS7740 stores data in disk cache and on physical tape in an attached physical library.
Here is an example of a TS7720, TS7740, and TS7720 Tape Attach 3-way hybrid Grid configuration.
