Has your friend built a meteorite shield over her house? After all, she'll really regret it if one comes crashing through the roof.

cowan@ccil.org (humorously) brings up is the factor of "likelihood". And it is absolutely relevant. However, in my experience, most people when faced with news of security "issues" grossly underestimate the probability of occurrence. That is, when faced with an issue that may affect their schedule or their budget most people lose IQ points. Even quite intelligent people become "not smart". I've heard "that will never happen" ring out on issues that either did happen or obviously (to me) had a "non-trivial" likelihood of occurring. --Marlena (at AcknowledgeSoftware.com)
