In a visit to Bolivia last month to support a local Informix event, I met with a group that was actively using Hibernate with Informix. They knew about the Hibernate "patch" that has been hosted on the IIUG web site (iiug.org/opensource). They did not know about the refresh/update to that work.
My colleague, Lance Feagan, created the Informix patch to the Hibernate 3.3.2 implementation that is hosted on the IIUG site. This project roughly supported Informix 11.50. We added a number of new SQL built-in functions and other operations for Informix 12.10, and so Lance decided to update the Hibernate support to reflect these updates. His Informix dialect has been on his GitHub repository for almost a year, but I don’t think many Informix developers know about it. Find it at : https://github.com/lfeagan/hibernate-orm/commits/master/hibernate-core/src/main/java/org/hibernate/dialect/InformixDialect.java
My goal now is to pester him to create a DevelopWorks article to fully explain his work and to give your Google search engine a few more hits when looking for Hibernate and Informix….
