Method for Unified Smarter URL Web Service
While me and my team have disclosed this over ip.com ( abt a day back) - I thought of expressing this in the blog forum for greater visibility and chances that fellow friends can apply it in real life.
"Method for Unified Smarter URL Web Service For Corporate Citation Over Word Wide Web"
What does this mean - well broken links have always been a headache and there has been quite a lot of solutions for it though not really innovations. But have you ever notice the following:
Many a times you come across references in article, news, documents published by XYZ company. When you visit those references or links or URL, it takes you to a 3rd person news websites - where you can read more details - but many a times those references show Ad's or have links which are disparaging to XYZ company. For example, if you are reading a breakthru article by C Cola company and it has some references , so you click
those references to learn more and you go to a website where there is more detail information - but may find a advertisement at the sidebar from a P Cola company. Its weird, funny and adversely affects brand building.
When one wants to quote a particular news or article or facts or technical content (available on Web) one can choose to cite a URL as reference. Now multiple URL's may contain same content or fact. Apart from the content that one needs to reference, it is very vital that the reference URL (Web Page) that is provided does not contain something disparaging to the authors product or company or favor the competitor or contain competitors advertisements or may lead to another web page having such content.
So here is the sketch of the proposed solution. What I like about it is a single unique URL is maintained throughout the life and the web service makes sure to prevent disparaging references and as a side product also takes care of broken links as references. - Laters Sandeep !
