Students weighing their choices for a career should research their options. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' occupational survey in 2007, Information Technology is the third best paid occupation out of all the 22 occupational groups. From 2004 to 2007, after already having recovered from the 2001 bust, the national IT job market grew an additional 45%. On the other side, the Computing Research Association (CRA) and CCC reports (http://www.cccblog.org/2008/07/11/computer-science-enrollments-the-real-news/) dropping enrollments in IT classes at US universities due to misinformation that all IT jobs are being offshore outsourced. With the looming retirement of baby boomers and the national support of Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Programs, prospective students may miss a huge opportunity if they don't do their homework when selecting a career.
