Earlier this year, IBM commissioned Forrester Research to examine the total economic impact and potential return on investment (ROI) of the IBM Rational solution for Test Automation (Rational Test Workbench and Rational Test Virtualization Server) investigating the results of a customer opportunity. The efforts of the study clearly suggests that companies who invest in service virtualization do increase their productivity and will realize a positive ROI. A positive ROI in a very short amount of time.
The customer opportunity examined involved a large European bank with more than 30 million customers and 3500 branches. The IBM Rational technology the customer implemented was to be used by one division's development group. Using Forrester Consulting's TEI methodology, the research teams analyzed a number of areas looking at benefits, cost, risk and flexibility based on information provided by Sandhata Technologies who was closely involved with this implementation and deployment of the IBM Rational solution.
As a result of implementing the IBM Rational Solution for Test Automation and according to Sandhata Technologies, the customer realized the following benefits:
The cummulative ROI across 3 years was 1775% with a payback period of less than 1 month.
