For fun and prophet -- After locating AIX's and Windows' horoscope the other day, I wondered ifother software products' horoscopes also fit their personalities in reallife. Here are the results for a few well-known programs. Do they fit? Youdecide:
Linux, having been first released in October 1991, falls under theYear of the Goat/Sheep/Ram (holy cow -- the goat-sheep-ram?! What kind of animals are they breeding over there in China?)
Thus, Linux is elegant (though sometimes clumsy in speech); highlyaccomplished and well-organized, but tends tosuffer from bouts of anxiety over seemingly inconsequential things.
Not very materialistic(but a generous gift-giver), Linux is alwayspassionate about its work and its beliefs and thrives best when it receives plenty of love and support.
Lotus Notes, first released in December 1989, belongs to the Year of theSnake. Snakes tend to overdo things, since they have doubts about other people's judgment. Sometimes fickle, and somewhat insecure, the Snake favors feelings and instinct over logic.
Nevertheless, Snakes are clever, and tend to be very appealing. They are more compatible withthose born in the Year of the Ox (eg Windows) than those born in the Yearof the Goat (eg Linux).
Apache, having been first released in April 1995, falls in the Year of thePig. Thus, Apache is chivalrous and gallant, honest and loyal -- anda bit of a perfectionist. A hard worker, when Apache does a thing, it stays done.
With impeccable mannersand taste, the well-behaved Apache believes in the best qualities of its users and is nevercondescending. It is more compatible with those born in the year of theGoat (eg Linux) than those born in the year of the Ox (eg Windows).
Google, having launched in September 1998, belongs to the Year of theTiger. While many have great respect for the Tiger, Tigers can oftencome into conflict with those older than themselves, or in positions ofauthority. Often suspicious and sometimes plagued with indecision, theTiger is prone to vacillate a bit, but the fact remains that Tigers are bornleaders. A Tiger's main interest is in following its ambitions -- andmaintaining control. Provided they can stay focused, they will accomplishmuch in life.
