In addition to our own April Fool's themed Power Architecture challenge, you will find a plethora of April Fool's stories today atSlashdot (so many, in fact, that some readers found it a bit distressing). Many of these (but also others) are also featured in a roundup with commentary at Macworld. Comments from /. readers and from the Macworld columnist have an anti-April-Fool's slant, but I for one can't help it, I just like this goofy holiday. Apparently, Forbes does too (which quite surprised me).
If you side with me and Forbes against the Slashdot readers and Macworld guy, then you will appreciate The Top 100 April Fool's Day Hoaxes of All Time -- many of which are really excellent. My two favorites are #7 Alabama Changes the Value of Pi (available from the main link already cited) and #58: Chewy Vodka Bars (if you read through the rest of the Top 100, you'll find that Itar-Tass developed an excellent sense of humor after 1991... or perhaps they had it all along ;)
And if you're in the other camp, then maybe just check out our article on using AltiVec for loop optimization, which was also posted today.Read More]
