I just tried skype from my computer to a co-worker's iphone skype app. The voice quality is very good, but still can tell that i am using an internet phone. But i assume things will improve over time and may just be as good as vonage, which i've been using the past 2 years. So if skype really works, here is some food for thought to save money on phone bill. I am thinking if i purchase a ipod touch (an iphone without the phone and speaker), I can put skype on it and make outgoing call to another skype users. I also looked up on skype monthly charge to call US phone numbers and it's about $2 a month for unlimited calling. So, I can use ipod touch to make outgoing calls in any wifi locations, and then get a pay-as-you-go phone to receive calls or make calls if i am on the road. Should that save me money paying to cellphone companies with minutes I always end up wasting?
Tell me your thought or a better way to save cell phone charges.
