Run Big SQL queries from web console and eclipse tooling for Analytics for Hadoop Service
BigSQL allows users to leverage existing SQL skills and immediately apply them in a Big Data environment. Big SQL brings a full-function SQL query capability, which is accompanied by security and extreme performance, to data that is stored in Hadoop.
How to run queries from BigSQL WebConsole
1. With IBM Bluemix and the power of the IBM cloud, open up the official BigInsights administration console.
2. Click on the Run Big SQL queries to open up the BigSQL console. Enter your query and click on Run to execute the query.
How to run BigSQL queries from BigInsights Eclipse Tools
Install BigInsights Eclipse tooling on eclipse 4.2.2 . You can get the installable by clicking on the “Enable your Eclipse development environment for BigInsights application development “ on the BigInsights console.
After installing BigInsights eclipse tooling , Create a BigInsights Server Connection on you eclipse environment. Go to the BigInsights perspective by clicking Window--> Open Perspective and select BigInsights . In the BigInsights Servers view, right-click on BigInsights Servers, and click New. Fill in the server information and click Finish to create a connection.
Open the Database Development perspective. In the Data Source Explorer, under the Database Connections folder, you see three connections: Big SQL, Big SQL1, and Hive. Those three connections have been automatically created by BigInsights Eclipse tooling when we created a new connection in Step 2.
From Data Source Explorer, right-click the BigSQL connection, and click on Connect. You can also view the BigSQL JDBC Properties by right-clicking it and selecting Properties. After the connection succeeds, select New SQL Script to open the SQL editor on the right-hand side.
5. You can enter you BigSQL queries here and click on green Run button to execute the query and view results.
