Good to see you have a blog, Niël. Hope it gets lots of airtime. Twitter will be a big help here.

This post about the discipline function is really, really good news. And, as you say, the possibilities are endless.
You could call the same discipline function and pass an argument to it, then do something based on that argument. For example, you could create a lock file and delete a lock file by calling the same discipline function.

Do you know which versions of AIX include the enhanced ksh you are referencing?

Hi there, and thank you for your kind words.

I have tested the script on AIX releases as far back as 5300-04-00 and it works as expected without any modification.
