IBM Rational Performance Tester (RPT) supports schedule execution to be carried out on a separate controller machine (Agent machine), which in fact is a recommended way of script execution. It also supports, to an extent, executing the minimal amount of user load execution locally on the workbench machine (not recommended for production level testing).
When executing a schedule under RPT version as 8.5 and SAP GUI version is 722.214.171.1240, the schedule was made to execute on either of these available options. Unfortunately, the schedule that was working fine earlier stopped executing now, resulting in the following error:
The following attempts were made to debug this further:
- Probably if you are running the schedule specifying an agent location machine, then open the location properties by double clicking the specific location item present under the "Test Navigator" section.
Get to the "General Properties" section and look, what is the "Operating System" value set to?
Even after exiting RPT and re-launching it, the "javaw.exe" process was not getting listed under the windows Task Manager section. Remember that the RPT as an application was opening up perfectly fine without any errors as such during the launch.
- This lead to visit the "eclipse.ini" file present in the RPT install directory (for example: <\IBM\SDP folder).
Interestingly, the initial few lines within the "eclipse.ini" file were not showing up
Add the lines which are shown up in bold above and re-launch RPT. This allows the execution of the schedule both on the agent machine as well as locally on the RPT workbench machine.
