I'm sure we all agree that the single most exciting thing to happen in 2014 was the delivery of a 64-bit client for Rational DOORS.
Following on from this, in 9.6.1, we also deliver DOORS Web Access (DWA) in 64-bit.
However, do note that 32-bit builds are no longer built and delivered in parallel. So what? If you have 32-bit hardware, you cannot upgrade to DOORS 9.6.1 or DOORS Web Access 9.6.1. The last version to ship 32-bit builds of DWA and the DOORS client is 22.214.171.124.
The legendary DOORS client/server compatibility remains – so users with 32-bit hardware can be on the 126.96.36.199 32-bit client while those with 64-bit can move to 9.6.1.

I most commonly see DOORS Web Access (DWA) installed on its own server and I prefer this for two reasons:
An important related note is that DWA should be close to the DOORS database server. A ping should be less than 50ms between where the database server is running and where DWA is running. I have twice seen DWA put in a remote location (a different city), with ping times significantly in excess of 50ms. The performance was unacceptable with operations such as login and opening modules timing out.

There was a time when either was fine. And it still is if you are only using DWA (DOORS Web Access). However, if DWA is used to integrate with other browser based applications, this becomes a critical point.
How many interops are recommended in Rational DOORS Web Access for use with Rational Quality Manager?

The interop process (doors.exe) serves multiple users. However it is a single threaded process - it can only do one thing at a time for which it will attach

There are some new videos available for the Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) products. Two of the topics are the integration of the Data Collection Component into Rational Insight and in the installation of the V5.0 Jazz Reporting Service. There is another video that focuses on exporting and importing system definitions with enterprise edition of Rational Team Concert (RTC), a method you can use to provide system information to Rational Support. Thank you to support engineers Ben Silverman and Olivier Gauneau for creating the videos.
Here is a look at one of the videos:

Telelogic applications that use FLEXnet rely on the environment settings that FLEXnet uses to find licenses. The applications search for license servers and license files in the following order:
License Value Description:
Node-locked license-file-name The full path to the license file on your computer.
User based feature:
A user-based license is tied to one specific user. This is compared to a floating license which anyone can use. A license Feature for a user-based license is recognized by the attribute USER_BASED on the FEATURE/INCREMENT line. The user who can obtain a user-based license are specified in the FLEXnet options file for the license server.

The users must be defined in a separate configuration file. The configuration file must be explicitly set in the license file
DAEMON telelogic "C:\Program File
The configuration file must list the users for the user based feature
The version number from the configuration file must match the version number from the license file (see in bold)
For the same feature both user based and floating features can be present. The user based should be listed first in the license file.

IBM Rational DOORS Next Gen is supported on Jazz platform helping you to collaborate with other Jazz platform tools like Rational Team Concert and Rational Quality Manager in your environment.
IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation provides additional features like:
Rational DOORS Next Gen has assumed the place of Rational Requirements Management (RM) for the Jazz platform that adds a requirements definition and management application on top of that common platform.
Now let’s discuss the DOORS Next Gen licensing concept.
DOORS Next Gen is the name rendered to the DOORS installation based on Jazz platform where you can enrich your client from a DOORS Next Gen Analyst or a Requirements Composer Client Access license. The contemporary version of the DOORS thick client is available too; this is DOORS 9.5.
Notice the fact, as per the screenshot above, that DOORS Next Gen and Rational Requirements Composer are based on Jazz platform activated by authorized or floating CALs (Client Access Licenses).
The Jazz admin can assign the licenses to the users by logging in to the License Management page which defines the level of access for each user.
