In this week's Meet the Peeps installation, we are off to Canada for an interview with Brennan Brazeau, technical support engineer and knowledge worker, who also has some intriguing ideas for future technology.

Tell us a little about yourself: who are you, what is your role in Rational Client Support?
My name is Brennan Brazeau, and I work in IBM Canada as a Technical Support Representative in the security space of Rational.
How long have you been working for IBM and Rational?
I have been working with IBM for last 3 ½ years ever since the company I was working at, Watchfire, was acquired. Prior to that, I had been working for Watchfire for a whole 3 ½ weeks before the company was acquired!
Have you had any other roles in Rational?
I am a Knowledge Champion (KC) for my team.
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working towards becoming a Knowledge Centered Support coach (KCS coach).
Describe a normal day for you.
A normal day consists of working on issues customers log with us in regard to our products, editing DCF documentation and playing the occasional ping pong game in the lunchroom.
Are you a gadget person? What type of gadgets do you use?
For being a techie person, not really. My cellphone is over 3 years old!
What is your favorite part of working for Rational Client Support?
Solving problems. On our team, we encounter a wide variety of issues and we always come across something different.
What inspires you in your work?
The clients. During conversations the most interesting stories come out. Such as the time a client almost punched Bill Gates in the face. By accident, of course.
In your spare time, if you have any, what hobbies or activities interest you?
Painting. It started off as a way to fill my blank walls, but I’ve continued on and have been creating some pieces for friends.
What is on your nightstand with regard to reading?
I always have 3 or 4 books on the go, but right now I’m reading How to Lose a War by Bill Fawcett, Son of Holmes by John Lescroart and Scott Pilgrim Vol 6 (Excitement level regarding upcoming movie - High)
What has been your biggest surprise you have witnessed in the technology industry?
That Facebook is still worth a kajillion dollars
Any new technologies that you think are about to break into the big time?
Database architecture and categorization. There’s an ever increasing amount of data being created and it needs to be sorted and stored somehow so it’s easy to get to.
What future technology would make your life easier?
Three words – Robot monkey butler.
