OMNIbus probe raw capture files can be very helpful for debugging probe issues, but they can also use a lot of disk space. The probe property MaxRawFileSize will limit the size of raw capture file but this alone will not prevent running out of disk space. Once the raw capture file has exceeded MaxRawFileSize, the probe will rename the raw capture file by appending the ObjectServer name and epoch. There is no automatic deletion of older capture files.
There really should be another probe property that limits the number of saved raw captures. I've opened RFE 26076 and I encourage people to vote for it.
In the meantime, here is a script that can be run as a process under OMNIbus process automation. It uses the "-keep" option to specify how many raw capture files should be kept for a given probe. The count includes the current raw capture file, so if no older files are to be kept, use "-keep 1".
One instance of this script will monitor all the raw capture files created in $OMNIHOME/var - i.e. it will cover for multiple probes. The monitored directory is changeable.
You can find the script here.
